  • boredness....

I love looking back on my xanga and seeing how obsessed I was with it from February to April of 2005 and how often I updated.....and now I write in it about once every 2 or 3 months.  That may or may not get better in the future.

Anywho, school is finished in 2 weeks...which I'm very happy about.  I have TONS of stuff to do in that time (including 2 group projects, writing a 15-page paper, and taking 5 finals) and so I'm not looking forward to that at all....but I just keep trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel despite all the things that are blocking me from the end at the moment.  This semester was pretty rough just because I just was not into the whole school thing at all.  This time was even worse than it was back during my undergrad when I was sick of school and wanted to quit.....I seriously did want to quit.  The only thing that stopped me was that the deadline for getting tuition money back had passed and I didn't want my parents to lose all that money.  But the summer is almost here, I won't have to worry about school for 3 months, and then this fall should be MUCH better.

Over the next few weeks I may write some more simply because I'll be needing to procrastinate.  Hope everyone is doing well and that your school years are ending nicely!

  • Gasp!  An update!

I love how everything I do online goes in phases.  Like, at one time I was super addicted to LJ and would post entries at least once a day, then I moved on to Xanga for a while, then I discovered MySpace and Facebook....so I pretty much spend all my time at those two places and ignore my Xanga now.  Oh well.....maybe I'll be bored by those soon and come back.

Quick recap since the last entry: finished the semester, got good grades (it's amazing what actually studying can do for you), went home for break, got to hang out with Suz a lot and see WAY too many movies (for free!), went to the least attended staff party in history but had tons of fun playing Nertz for 7 and 1/2 hours, attended two camp weddings, and worked the winter retreat at camp.

Anywho, life is so boring right now, I'm definitely ready to start classes again.  Just from the past couple of weeks, I feel like I've gotten a glimpse into the future....and I'm not sure how much I'm gonna like it.  Since I've been back in WF, all I've had to do each day is go to work and I really don't like the monotony of it all.  As much as I hate school when I'm actually in it, I don't really look forward to the day where I graduate and then have to move on to "real life."

In other, less depressing news, I got a new computer this week!  My IBM crappad got a mind of its own and liked to play gamed with me....choosing when it did and when it did not want to turn on.  And I didn't want to deal with that, especially when I have a class this semester that deals with computers (making videos, etc.).  So I got a new HP laptop, complete with all the features.  The widescreen thing is a little hard to get use to, but other than that, I like it.

I'm very ready to have roommates again because living alone gets old.  Jasmine moves in tomorrow (yay!) and I'm assuming that Mary Beth will be back tomorrow as well, so the place should be full again very soon.  And I don't really have much else to say, so I think I'm gonna take some anti-histamines and go to sleep.

    Randomness abounds!

--Finally conducted a tiny pumpkins vs. candy corn taste test with the Brach's brand and the tiny pumpkins are better.  Which goes to show, it's not that one is better than the other, but that different brands produce different tastes for these candies.

--Last week I got stuck with 2 different needles.  I gave blood on Wednesday and then got a flu shot on Thursday.  Oddly enough, the flu shot hurt more than the giving blood just because of the whole fluid being injected into my body thing, I actually didn't even feel the needle at all.

--In television world, the Gaghan family was eliminated from the Amazing Race and that disappointed me so much.  Stupid red coffee bean.

--There are some Ukrainian orphans coming to our school later on this month to perform  an old Russian folk tale.  I can't wait to go and see it!  Speaking of Ukrainian orphans, I really miss my kids from this summer and think about them all the time.  Helen (not an orphan, but 15 year old girl whose mom owned the apartment we lived in over there) actually called me this weekend.  Unfortunately, I was not here and so she just left a message.

--The reason I wasn't here to get her call was because I got to go home this weekend for the first time in about a month.  It was good because I got to spend time with my mom because my dad was away on a men's retreat with their church.  Also got to go to a football game, which I loved.  Lincolnton (my old HS) totally killed North Lincoln with a score of 42-10.  I'm really hoping that Lincolnton makes it to the state championship this year because those games are at Kenan Stadium (UNC's football stadium) and so it'd be really easy for me to get there to see them.

--On Sunday, my parents and I went to a different church because my cousin was getting licensed to preach.  Just being in the service really got me thinking about how God works things out.  You see, my cousin had played football and baseball all of his life....and his dad had really worked with him with the baseball.  He was such an amazing baseball player that, as a freshman and sophomore in high school, he had colleges scouting him.  Then he fell into a life of drugs and alcohol.  He stopped playing baseball, was getting into trouble at school, and was becoming a person that nobody in our family even recognized.  At the time all I ever thought was "boy he messed up his life."  Almost 2 years ago he turned away from all of that and turned to Jesus Christ, accepting him as his Savior.  And now he has accepted God's call on his life to preach.  It's all just so amazing to me how things have come about.

And on that serious note, I believe that I will end my entry.
